Artist Kim McDermottroe invites you to step into a whimsical exploration of nature, mechanics, and character brought to life. At the heart of this collection is Tobias GreenPlume, a magical owl who inspired an imaginative journey from large-scale costuming to intricate, hybrid creations.
Blending flora and fauna with man-made elements like cogs, each piece reimagines the natural world with a touch of fantasy. Drawing is the foundation of every work, informed by the artist’s background in costume design and a love for storytelling. Her autism allows her to hyper-focus during the creative process, transforming each piece into something uniquely detailed and deeply personal.
Displayed for the first time in Hartlepool Art Gallery, this exhibition celebrates a personal and creative homecoming. Featuring original works and limited-edition prints, it offers a glimpse into a world where the organic and mechanical intertwine in extraordinary harmony.
