LGBT+ Reminiscence and Art Workshop
Hartlepool Art Gallery | February 2025
Join Lizzie Lovejoy in Hartlepool Art Gallery for a day of creativity, community, and reflection! This unique workshop invites everyone to explore their personal journey through art, conversation, and shared experiences. Whether you’re part of the LGBT+ community or an ally, come celebrate our collective past, present, and future through a series of fun and interactive activities.
Collaborative Community Artwork
Be part of something BIG! Help us create a vibrant community masterpiece on a continuous roll of paper. Add your own drawings and reflections, from proud moments of the past to visions of an LGBT+ inclusive future. Your art will contribute to a visual story of love, pride, and hope.
Postcards to Your Past and Future Self
What advice would you give to your younger self? What dreams do you have for the future? Pick up a blank postcard and write or draw messages to your past or future self, then drop them in our colourful post box. This is a chance to share your wisdom, your dreams, and your joy with yourself (even if you don’t know it yet).
Reportage of LGBT+ Objects
Get inspired by our LGBT+ object handling box! Look closely at items that connect to local LGBT+ heritage, then try your hand at sketching them. Capture the history, significance, and beauty of these objects while trying some of our drawing challenges (like drawing with your eyes closed or with two pens at the same time).
Colouring Sheets for LGBT+ Icons
Relax and unwind with some colouring. We have sheets featuring iconic LGBT+ figures from history and today. Perfect for those wanting a chilled-out space or for younger participants to engage with creativity in a meaningful way.
This workshop is open to all – no artistic experience needed. Whether you want to share stories, reflect on your journey, or simply enjoy some quiet, creative time,
