Open Call Exhibition: Resilience

Hartlepool Art Gallery invites artists to explore the multifaceted concept of resilience in our upcoming spring 2026 exhibition.

Inspired by the 100th anniversary of the 1926 General Strike, we seek artworks that capture resilience in its broadest sense. We’re looking for works that speak to human endurance, adaptation, and strength in the face of challenge.

Resilience can manifest in countless ways:

  • Personal survival through adversity
  • Community bonds that sustain us
  •  Environmental adaptation
  •  Psychological recovery
  •  Technological innovation
  • Cultural preservation
  •  Overcoming systemic barriers

While drawing inspiration from the historical solidarity of workers during the General Strike, we welcome interpretations of resilience that reach far beyond this specific historical moment.

Open to all flat art, in any medium, that can be wall mounted.
